How it works

These workshops help children understand and express the difficult emotions associated with parental separation while teaching family members new ways to support affected children and manage their new life circumstance.

Parents pay tuition on a sliding fee basis and children are not charged.

Workshops are based on age of the children.

Services are conducted locally in English and Spanish.

OUR GOALS ARE TO:

We put kids in the center of healing and hope.

  • Help children to understand and cope with the loss, anger, and fear that often accompany familial
    separation.
  • Help family members support their children.
  • Support children with academic success.
  • Give a “TOOL Belt” to avoid abuse: physical, emotional or educational abuse or neglect.
  • Have lower rates of delinquency, and youth crime.
  • Children will discover and develop their gifts, passions and purpose in life for leadership, enterprise or social entrepreneurship.
  • Demystify and de-stigmatize the separation process.
  • Creating awareness on the short and long term affects on kids of separations.

“Helped us by hearing and learning from other parents. My kids say they didn’t want to come but they talk to me afterwards about what they are thinking” Chris, Dad

Professional Development

Understanding divorce culture is critical for anyone who works with kids. When parents separate, it is a wild ride for everyone involved, especially the kids. Studies show that kids who have support from the significant adults in their lives have far better outcomes than kids who do not. Understanding the issues that kids of divorce face is essential for kids to thrive post-divorce. Using the Split video and manual, professional and community members see firsthand what these issues are and how to better provide for kids of divorce through encouragement, sponsorship, financial assistance and general provision within their industry. A necessity for educators, counselors, business, church and faith based organizations, mental health providers and the medical community. Programs are tailored to each industry and are taught by trained trauma facilitators and delivered at the organization’s campus. Participants will receive three months access to Split Film online curriculum at the completion of the workshop.
